The State of Andhra Pradesh, technical education department has postponed the admission dates to engineering colleges by one day. While the placement of options was supposed to start on August 30, the state government has now postponed the same to August 31. Students with EAMCET ranks up to 15,000 will be allowed to place options on August 31 and September 1.

The decision came after 17 engineering colleges which had asked for an increase in fee from Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,200 submitted their affidavits in high court on Wednesday. The government will now have to accommodate these colleges in the counselling list with the revised fee structure, for which a GO is expected to be issued on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the state government, which faced massive criticism for not introducing online counselling for engineering colleges, is likely to amend GO 60 to enable the same.
