Cochin University of Science and Technology ( CUSAT) on Friday announced its new MFSc program in seafood safety and trade. The course will commence from September 2012.

The course aims at developing manpower specialized in managerial skills demanded by the trade and seafood industry and to extend state of the art research opportunities in emerging vistas related to seafood trade, seafood quality assurance and international trade.

Once qualified, with this two- year program which is interdisciplinary in nature, an individual can take up entry level positions in seafood production, sales, marketing, quality assurance, food safety, total quality management, import and export.

The course is sanctioned recently by the UGC, under its innovative program – Technology and Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas.
