PGIMER Wthholds MD Entrance Results - 14 Arrested In Blue-Tooth Copying The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has withheld the result of the MD entrance examination following the arrests made by CBI in a swoop at different examination centres where students were found writing the exams with the help of blue-tooth hearing devices embedded in their ears.

“The examination results have been withheld for an indefinite period. In normal circumstances, the results would have been declared the following day,” said an official statement, released at Chandigarh on Saturday.

CBI took 14 people, including seven girls, on remand till November 15 to probe the racket from Chandigarh, detained three in Patna and one in Hyderabad. The accused girls, who are from Andhra Pradesh, were not meeting the eligibility criteria of having a valid MBBS degree for appearing in the examination.

CBI investigations revealed that the accused girls did not hold MBBS degrees and some were merely matriculates or Class XII pass and the agency is scrutinising the records submitted by the candidates.

According to CBI sources, the 14 people arrested from Chandigarh, allegedly involved in answering questions of the post-doctoral exams at the prestigious PGI, Chandigarh, used to charge Rs 50 lakh per candidate.

This could not be detected at the stage of application as the candidates are only asked to submit photocopies of the certificates at the time of applying and the actual scrutiny of the documents is done once the candidate clears the exam, said the official in response to a query.

There were about 7300 candidates who took the MD entrance exam of PGIMER on Saturday, said the official.
