Pravesh Niyantran Samiti May Cancel Illegal Medical Admissions After around 80 students and their parents aired their grievances about irregularities in the procedure and filing of their complaints with Pravesh Niyantran Samiti (PNS) , admissions granted to students in private and unaided medical colleges in State of Maharashtra, after the second round have been made provisional until further order.

Now after the scrutiny and finding the discrepancies in the admission procedure followed at these colleges, P E Gaikwad, the office secretary of PNS, confirmed that prima facie the colleges seem to be at fault.

Pravesh Niyantran Samiti (PNS) had asked the colleges – Ulhas Patil Medical College, Jalgaon; Ashwini Rural Medical College, Solapur; Institute of Medical Science and Research, Satara; Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College, Nasik – to respond to the parents complaints in an affidavit on November 2.

Their responses given to the Parent’s complaints are not satisfactory. However, they have been asked to file the responses in affidavits to ensure they are genuine and can be used in further legal proceedings. If they fail to do so, the PNS will also be free to initiate the action against these colleges apart from the cancellation of admissions, the time limit of which has been set for 8 November. The time limit set by PNS had made the parents happy who had earlier protested against the samiti for the delay in scrutinizing the admissions.

After a SC order this year, the Association for Private Unaided Medical and Dental Colleges (APUMDC) in the Maharashtra state conducted only two rounds of admissions, and not three like before. Students then had to apply at institute level for vacant seats. However those Private Medical Colleges in Maharashtra flouted admission norms prescribed by the samiti.
