RTM Nagpur University Has Not Declared New Dates For Engineering Exams Even after disrupting the entire academic year of the students of engineering faculty by deferring all engineering exams scheduled to commence from November 5, the RTM Nagpur University administration is yet to declare new dates. Over 60,000 students severely affected by the decision are still waiting for the new dates.

“RTM Nagpur University officials conducted meetings but could not arrive at an appropriate date as lot of things had to be considered before taking a final decision, but the dates will be announced in a couple of days,” the Controller of Exam is reported to have been saying.

RTM Nagpur University sources stated that a couple of high-profile politicians linked to engineering colleges had allegedly pressurised the university administration to defer the exam to accommodate hundreds of illegally admitted students in various MTech/ME courses. The college management led by these politicians had apprehended loss of crores of rupees in revenue taken from such students in the name of fees and huge donations.

Meanwhile a case of how the lethargic administration of the varsity tend to buckle under the political pressure has come to the fore. An ample testimony to this fact came on Monday, which was the deadline, when nearly 70 engineering and law colleges coming under the purview of RTM Nagpur University defied the directives for submitting the list of students admitted including provisionally, apart from information on number of approved and contributory teachers and how many of them had reported for mandatory evaluation duty of the university along with those who skipped it.

RTM Nagpur University’s move to seek information from all these colleges came after many cases of illegal admissions came to fore. Even instances of colleges committing illegal activities like admitting ineligible students and running courses even before getting affiliation from the university were also detected.
