DU Exempts Physically Disabled Students From Fees Delhi University (DU) has decided to waive fees and hostel charges for people with physical disabilities from this academic year. They will also get a 50% mess subsidy. However, this exemption excludes admission fee, subscription towards Delhi University Students’ Union and the identity card fee.

Now the students with physical disabilities enrolled in the faculties, departments, centres and institutions/colleges of DU will be exempted from payment of tuition fees, library fees, health centre fees, sports fees and university development fund fees. All physically-handicapped category students who are residents of different hostels/halls of the university will also be exempted from payment of all fees and charges, except the refundable caution fees. The university has also issued a circular to all the deans of faculties, heads of departments, principals of colleges and directors of centres to refund the fees already paid by these students for the academic session 2012-13 at the earliest.

The decision is likely to benefit around 2,000 students at various undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including MPhil and PhD.
