anti-ragging site The government on Thursday launched an anti-ragging website helping students of universities, colleges and professional institutes lodge online complaints against ragging or harassment and seek faster response. The portal www.antiragging.in was inaugurated by Kapil Sibal, Minister HRD, Govt. Of India.

The portal has been developed in active collaboration with Rajendra Kachroo by Aman Satya Kachroo Trust. Rajendra Kachroo is father of Aman Kachroo who lost his life to ragging at a medical college in Himachal in 2009. The portal will be managed by UGC.

The project was taken on the directive of Supreme Court of India in 2009 while passing a judgement in a ragging case. Ragging is a crime which destroys a student’s confidence and even forces them to commit suicide, so we should create an anti-ragging portal, the supreme court had said.

Kachroo expressed confidence that the new portal will ensure a response to the complaints lodged by students within half an hour.

The complaints can be lodged at helpline number 18001805522, or on websites www.amanmovement.org too.

The anti-ragging portal is also expected to maintain a database of students and will be connected to most universities & colleges by year-end. There are nearly 40,000 colleges across the country.
