India to setup second Mines School According to Rod Solomon, Trade and Investment Commisioner of Queensland, Australia, an understanding has been reached with the Government of India to open a its second mining school in the north-eastern state of India, though the exact location has not been disclosed. It will provide skilled manpower for the growing needs of the mining industry.

The only school of mines in India is the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad in Jharkhand, which was established in 1926 by the then British colonial government.

The Queensland state is not actually going to build the school but only bring in the curricula and the trainers to provide the education, according to the understanding as a part of follow up talks with the Indian government on cooperation in the field of vocational education.
