Friday, Vice-chancellor of University of Pune (UoP), announced the launch of 2-year long MTech (Aviation) course from academic session of 2013-14. The Pune University will sign an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) in next month with a German firm Fashschule Feer Luftahrgeng Fuhres (FFLF), a company which is said to be one of the top ranked German aviation firms, next only to Lufthansa.
With initial intake of 24 students only engineering graduates may seek admission to MTech (Aviation) through an entrance examination. The first six months of the course will be at UoP’s department of technology, while the remaining 18 months will be on-site training in Germany, following which the students will get a UoP degree in MTech (Aviation).
The course syllabus and related formalities have been cleared by the university’s statutory bodies like the management and the academic councils. The UoP has also approached the director general of civil aviation, the country’s aviation regulator, for recognition of the course for the purpose of issuance of pilot’s license.
MTech (Aviation) course will be offered on a credit-based system. The credits accumulated for the 18 month on-site training in Germany will be transferred to the UoP to enable the award of a degree according to the scheme of the course.
