PG Medical students are finding it difficult to cope with the pressure as major Postgraduate entrance examinations of health sciences being conducted within a short time gap.
The sheer timings of these entrance examinations reveal absence of any coherent thinking among various government agencies like National Board of Examinations (NBE) or Medical Council of India (MCI) and proper management of holding PG Medical entrance examinations. The parents and students were shocked when newly announced National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for PG (NEET-PG) was shifted closer by about one and half months from its earlier schedule on a very short notice. Further, until last year All India Medical Postgraduate Entrance Examination was used to be conducted in the second week of January, suddenly has been shifted to the month of November. The new schedule of the PG Medical Entrance Examinations is as under :
NEET-PG | November 23 to December 6 |
PGI Chandigarh | Novermber 11 at Chandigarh |
AIIMS, Delhi | November 18 at four Metro cities |
DNB | November 17 to 20 at various cities |
As can be seen from the above schedule of PG Medical Entrance Examinations, November 18 has coinciding examinations of DNB and AIIMS potentially at two different locations for some students. Also it is within a span of 15 days students have appear for 4 PG Medical Entrance Examinations conducted at different centres. This is certainly going to cause hardship to students to arrange for travel and find lodging and boarding arrangements.
