University Of Pune To Start An IT Course Post Class XII

Starting academic year 2012-13, the University of Pune (UoP) will introduce a series of 13 different certificate and advanced certificate courses in information technology (IT) for standard XII pass students. The announcement comes close on the heels of the UoP declaring a plan to introduce post-std XII four-year integrated degree and five-year integrated post-graduate courses in science and arts from academic year 2013-14.

The IT courses are to be offered through the faculty of science and form a part of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that has been signed recently between the UoP and the Education to Home, a Pune-based IT firm, better known by its acronym ETH. The ETH, which is headed by noted computer expert Vijay Bhatkar, who is a former chief of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), is into providing solutions that leverage information and communication technology (ICT) tools for delivery of education at school and higher education level.

A detailed program related to admissions to these courses will be announced soon, the UoP’s board of college and university development (BCUD) office stated in a release here.

Of the total 13 courses, 12 are certificate courses in C language; C++ language; C#.Net language; Java; in.Net; J2EE; PHP; software testing and quality assurance; mobile application development for J2ME, Android an d iPhone and finally, in information technology. The 13th course in an advanced program in information technology.
